Talking Lowered Z28 exhaust options?

I am thinking about doing something different with my exhaust. My tips look like crap and would rather just having nothing coming out the back. I was going to do true duals, but I lowered my car 2 inches...........I scrape everything now as it is. What if I had a bullet muffler welded right after the Y pipe where the headers meet and then run a few feet of pipe back to the axle and dump it? Has anyone done this? Is that a stupid idea? Anyone have a better idea? -Thanks -Brad

I'd be kind of worried about having a muffler attatch directly to the HEaders liek that....Thinking "back pressure" i dunno....but I saw an undershot of the sunocco 6 Camaro. It had headers then some type of crap. couldn't tell...but it dumped out the sides for exhaust. Headers then a muffler can work...but it kind of defeats the purpose. You atleast wanna have a little pipe...unless your registered in the NHRA Pro class

Sorry I wasn't clear I would have my headers then about a foot of pipe then a bullet muffler then about 3 feet of pipe then a dump to the ground right before the axle. -Brad

Dude dont even think of the true duals with that drop. All I got is the Eibach Pro Kit and my muffler man said "forget it". I ended up going with shorties and removing the cats. Had a custom y-pipe made.

I've got a better idea, learn where you can, and cant drive . then get some long tubes, and say @#)$& inclines, speedbumps, and driveeways.

(going over speedbumps crooked helps a lot )

I'm more or less wondering how the set up I talked about above would sound and perform. I know that the setup I listed above will work. I had my car on the lift today and my tech said to give it a try and that he thinks it would work. He was just worried about sound and performance. -Thanks ----Brad

I have alreay figured out speed bumps, driveways, ect.........its all about angles.

my cars not lowered and my long tubes scrape on everything, especially when i am carrying a passenger...and dont even think about loading up 4 people and expecting to not scrape...if ur car is lowered 2 inches, i would go mid lenghts and then dump it...but long tubes WILL scrape

When my car was lowered I found that any over stock pipe will become stock size after a bump or two. so stick with your shortys and you will be okay.

Have you looked into the OVAL pipes that are offered? I plan on doing this eventually along with getting uncoated long tubes. I would then fit the LT's and then cut the collector off and re-weld it to a better angle following the floorpan lines.

First I need to drop this sucker though.
