Lower alternator mount cracked

I removed the alternator yesterday while working on the LT installation and found that the aluminum bracket that holds the alternator and a couple of other things was cracked. It cracked off where the lower alternator bolt goes through. Anyone have a reason why it would do this?

The alternator was tightened to tight. Then a hard bump or something like that could break it.

I'm wondering if something is outta wack, it is a rebuilt alternator, probably the third one because the rest self destructed. When i took it off, I did notice that I could pull the pulley in and out about a half inch. These things are junk.
