Low oil pressure and loss of power

Twas about to race another car. I attempted to accelerate hard and all of a sudden I lost my gears and the car started to coast. Oil pressure was at zero and the car chugged but refused to start.

The mechanic found a corroded ignition coil wire and replaced it. The car starts now but oil pressure is almost zero at a stop and the engine power feels week, like I'm driving a V-6.

I replaced the wires several months back and I gave the engine a pressure wash about one month ago. No problems until yesterday.

Any ideas?

Not uncommon for the oil pickup to fall off into the oil pan. Bang on the bottom of the oil pan and listen for a piece bouncing.

Car won't start again and oil pressure is zero. I will give your suggestion a try.

I am told that if that happened the car would have seized. Any other suggestions?
