Low oil light but there is plenty of oil

My car will only give me a low oil light when i first start the car. If i run the car a few min. and shut it off then restart it there is no light. It is only after the car sits awhile. I have checked the oil and it is full. Any idea's? i assume it must be the sensor in the pan correct are they hard to replace on the car? I am going to yank the motor in the summer so if replacing the sensor is a pain i will just wait. I don't think it would be too hard but i have heard it can be a pain. Any input? Thanks.

Most likely the oil level sensor on the driver side of the pan. Just drain the oil (or pull the old one out and quickly insert the new one), remove the sensor, reinstall, and that should be it.

The reason the light goes out if you turn it off and restart right away is that there is a "drainback timer" that has to be satisfied before it will trigger the light. Restarting it right away does not give the timer enough time for reset.
The check is only made at startup.
