How low is your oil when the low oil light comes on??

I believe it means your down to like 2-3qts

 

my low oil olight wouldn't go off unless I turned on the ignition, turned it off and then started the car. I had to do that every time but my oil was fine. Eventually it started working right again

 

i call it a "dummy light" when your oil is low enough on oil for the light to come it. chances are it might be too late, and severe damage may have already be happening. GM should have set them to come on if its 1/2 quart low. JIMHO though.

mine comes on at 2 quarts low. been doing it for two years now and no problems yet...lol
