I have the 224/230 110 LSA and it has decent power. The low end is OK but above 2500 is where this cam really shines for me... stock heads, 6 spd 3.42. I can also run it just fine at 70 mph on the highway and have gotten 25 mpg many times. As far as cam surge goes however... I can make the car buck pretty hard if im not careful and I believe this has a lot to do with the cam being cut on a 110 LSA.

I'd go with the 224/230. Most people I know are happy with them. And the reason they (and other XE cams) fall off of power at 6k rpms is because of spring pressure. They are an extreme lobe design, which means you need a higher spring seat pressure in order to get the most out of them. I would definitely recommend a double spring set up with these. EX612 combination ms springs IMO are the best single coil springs, and are what I run, but I don't have an XE grind. So if you want single coil, go with the 612s.

If a regular cam is in consideration, think about the CC305 (220/230), or a GM846 (222/230) made by crane. Another one I have heard is a beast is the Crane 210/224. Smaller, but a tq monster I hear. Both are good cams. I have the CC305, and it has plenty of bottom end, and keeps pulling all the way to 6300 rpms. I usually shift about 6200 rpm at the track.

I have yet to get it dynoed but can tell you up top is where that cam shows its self. As for low end tq it feels like it did when it was stock. As for surging yea it does if I am just letting the car pull itself around with out any help from the gas pedal. A little extra gas though and it goes away. Unlike ponykilla they dont light up from a 25mph roll. As for 6th speed w/my 4.10s i have no problems at all.
I guess the true question to ask would be would I buy this cam again? I would have to say yea. I also dont plan on any head mods so it was a good choice for me.

I run a similar cam to the XE224/230. Mine's a 224/232/112 with the same lifts. Cam has alot more low end grunt, hardly any surge and I get 28 mpg on the freeway with it. No complaints!

Im not saying its a good thing cause now I have to race like most ricers, from a 50 roll. HAHAHA Im getting some drag radials soon so that will take care of that problem.
Im running 255/50/16s lol. Ill try it again, just got my car back together with its new clutch and tranny. My old clutch was about shot so it may have been slipping. And when i say i cant break the tires loose, thats from a <3000 RPM punch, havent tried idling up to 4500 or so and smashing it.

I also am running the stock throttle body, other than that i cant see why yours would run so much better?

I have a Lingenfelter CAI, Pro Mag 1.6rrs, Jethot LTs, magnaflow catback, and the cam o'course. With no cats or emissions provisions lol.

The only thing I have that you dont seems to be the bigger tb, 3.73 gear, true duals, and computer tuning. The tune I have is from PCMFORLESS but I still want to get it on a dyno. I get some cam surge down low that I hear can be cleaned up completely.

I have a custom tune done by a guy who has done quite a bit of LT1 tuning. We went on about 3 cruises with him recording data, making changes and loading a new tune, rinse and repeat 3x.

not sure what the deal is.
