low coolant light came on but full??

Okay my low coolant light came on about a week about, filled it and now just had it come on again, but this is the thing the collant was full this time...I checked the engine a little and the thermostat looks like it has a leak dried antifreeze around the opening that I could see...but no new wet spots..

any idea???

well this is a question i havent seen asked in a while. I would think its the low coolant level sensor, its on the radiator a little bit below the cap, I had that same prob, replaced the sensor and Im good.

THe low coolant sensor in the radiator is more then 99.9999% your problem. YOu could change the sensor gotta get a new one from dealer, or just unplug the sensor of time being. Just remember with it unplugged you should keep an eye on the the system.

I wouldn't leave it unpluged, but you could do that. Some have luck just taking it out and cleaning the gunk out of it and reinstalling it. I think that if you take it out and and chek it with a ohm meter, you should get a short if it is good and and open if it is bad. That will save you the time of reinstalling it just to check it after you clean it. Also to save you some time...while you are draining your antifreeze ( just drain it til it gets below the sensor ) you should take the battery out and it will make changing the sensor a snap. my .02. Good luck.

Test it and if its bad, change it. Its only $20 from any parts store. Thankfully mine's bad too.
