low coolant light

i know they are known to go bad a lot, and it was always on in my 93 Z but they go out a lot on the newer LT1s also? on my 97 T/A it just started coming on every so often the other day. running pretty much in normal temp range according to factory gauge and when i shut it off its all the way to the top of the radiator cap. i put some new antifreeze in the overflow tank and keep adding a little every so often to see if it will go off but comes on every once in a while. bad sensor maybe? i know i need to flush my current coolant cause its pretty nasty, other than that it seems fine mechanically.

Re: low coolant light

LOL...... my '97s just started coming as well, always a few minutes after the engine is warm. I've checked the level 3 time so far and it's full. I have already replaced the sensor once a while back. They're pretty cheap and easy to install, just gotta drain the radiator a little bit, pop the clip off, unplug the harness, and then do the reverse. And it's one of the few things easy to get at under the hood of our cars!

I just unplugged the sensor... and bingo, no more light. Just keep an eye on your coolant level every know and then

Re: low coolant light

Just unplug it - GM did away with them on our cars in 2K, of course they also gave us the dummy temp gauge in '99.

Re: low coolant light

I unplugged mine because I'm tierd of watching it come on. I check my coolant once a week and later this summer I'm going to put a new sensor in when I flush my heater core.

Re: low coolant light

The coolant isn't low, just unhook the damn thing, doesn't throw a code. It'll be fine. The coolant ruins them just like the opti.
