low coolant level sensor
low coolant level sensor
Hello I have a 93z with the single cat. my light turns on but physically it's full with fluid bought a new sensor how hard is it to change this without removing radiator a any major components anyone had change this with ease or better method of doing it. anyones advice is appreciated thank you.
I had this problem years ago. I remember it being a pain and doing the same after I installed a new one. Mine is just unplugged. I don't suggest this unless you are meticulous about keeping an eye on things! Otherwise...
i unpugged mine and i did blow my headgasket when i lost coolant and it overheated, so on second thought just bite the bullet and replace it. i try to check my guage as much as possable, but it just doenst work in the real world.i wish i had had sombody tel me to just fix it right!!
FIX IT RIGHT!!

Hell dude, you outa take it out and clean it , that should fix it, I had to do that with mine before. I did initially just leave it unplugged, but I didnt want to leave it that way, so I just cleaned it and put it back and there has been no light on in the last year
......plus you can get a refund on that replacement you said you bought..

i found you a lnk w/ instuctions:

and just an afterthought, you will want to drain and refill your cooling system so your new/cleaned sensor doesnt get all gummed up.

A little white grease on the O-ring also helps. Make sure its the sensor ~ a friend had a bad rad cap that was hanging open causing his sensor to activate (water would flow into the overflow tank, but not return to the Rad.)
X2, but I did not even drain it down ~ just have it ready & do a quick hot swap.

it not hard you just have to take you battery off and don't clean it replace it. The is a metal tip in the middle of the sensor that corrodes and be sure that the clip that holds it in place is on both sides of the new sensor to hold tight up against the radiator. I just drain a little bit coolant using the drain on the bottom of the radiator so it would not make a mess.
thank you everyone on the responses i changed it and all is well put in new rad. cap and 160 deg. therm, sensor went in well little tricky on the clips but I got it in . AGAIN thank for all the advices and tips gents.
