i hear this loud knock noise from the front of my car when my car downshifts from 2nd to 1rst...i have a A4. not always but sometimes when im coming to a fast stop ..it almost feels like the 60E is not ready for the downshift but its not coming from the 60E. Anybody?????

 

transmission mount?
see if you get loud bang on a 1-2 **** at WOT, if so, replace the mount; they don't last and they are real cheap

 

Thats what i thought but he said the noise was coming from the front of his car. Anyway....if you have never changed one before, go underneath and put a jack under the tranny. Jack it up an inch and see if the trans mount seperates. Some times just by looking at it you can't tell.

 

thanks guys...im pretty sure its not the mount b/c i just got a new 60E and i would have noticed (so would have my engineer)
