Lots of Road Noise....Is there a way to silence?

Ok, I have a convertible Trans Am. It does have a lot of noise in the trunk area and i was just wondering if there was some sort of a kit that i could install to silence some of the road noise?

I saw a kit on horsepower t.v once that installed under the carpet. Im not sure if it would be worth it but hey.. im just curious.

you can try pulling your carpet and putting down some dynamat or something along those lines. my buddy did it with his bronco and it made it quite a bit nicer. check out car audio companies or ebay.

Tires are a pretty big factor. I think they don't insulate sports cars as much as other ones to keep weight down. That could be one reason.

I sprayed the entire underbody of my car with an exterior waterproof spray-on sound deadening material. Before I did it, I cleaned off any flaking paint caused by rust, removed some rust and totally degreased and cleaned the underside. I applied about 1.5 gallons total. It took a week and was a messy job, but it totally cut down on road noise and my underbody will probably never rust out. A good thing since I live in highly the corrosive Chicago, IL. I used http://www.partsexpress.com/webpage....ectGroup_ID=19 I used the black stuff in the 1 gal containers for this. About 18 months ago and not a single bit has flaked off. This is my daily driver, so I wanted to cut the road noise as much as possible. I also took off much of the interior body panels and sprayed this stuff into all of the cavities that are exposed to outside noise. I wish I used a SPL meter to determine exactly how much I cut the noise down, but it was significant and if I ever buy another F-body, it'll probablybe one of the first things I do to it.

yea psi in your tires and your steel DS can have bad vibrating problems at higher speeds if you've changed gear ratios...Dynamat should help out a lot, but its a PITA to do yourself...
