Lost oil pressure but car is running fine

Well I floored the car, and when I came to a stop, I had no oil pressure. Turned the car off then back on to see if it was maybe just the gauge and it didn't go back up. Drove it back home and the car ran just fine. At stops, the needle was barely above red line, and while driving at about 50mph, the needle was right below the first mark. When oil pressure is lost, shouldn't the car not be driving right? I'm wondering if it's just the sender or the gauge is messed up.

I'm having the exact problem. I just bought my car. It was in a mild wreck. I took it out and drove it for the first time today(had to replace busted radiator) and I noticed it was running about 35 on oil pressure at about 55 mph and at idle it's just above the red line. What do you guys usually run at idle, about 30 to 35???

I'm at 35 at idle. Change your sending unit. It's easy and the part number is: 10201491. It's $23.43 from Jason Cromer.

Well, I went outside today and unhooked the plug from the end of the oil pressure sensor. Went and turned they key to ON just to see if the needle went all the way up. It did. Later, I started the car, and oil pressure was reading just fine. When for a short drive and all was where it should be, so I don't know what happened but atleast it's working.
