Lost .3 in 1/4 after SLP shorties, GMMG cat-back, cold air intake, etc.

Need some help here. Completely stock, the car would run 14.2 and 97 to 98 in the trap, with a slipping clutch and leaking intake. While fixing the intake and replacing the clutch (with an SLP disk+pressure plate), I added SLP shorties, SLP cold air, and a LT4 knock module. The ambient conditions (temp & PA) when I previously ran were very similiar to what I ran today, yet the best I could do of 3 runs was a 14.5, with 98.1 in the trap. I've run the car for several weeks to break in the clutch, fixed all the exhaust leaks, and am not squawking any codes. No misfires, stumbles, or vacuum leaks, and the engine idles smooth and throttle response is excellent. The car seems to run great, but SOTP feel is useless... I'm really concerned about the time loss... seems like the mods I added should have gotten me a .3 sec gain, not a .3 sec loss. Your thoughts???

I'm in SW Oklahoma. I used to run 60' times of 2.2 but now my best is 2.4. Yes, I'm getting a lot of wheel spin (hard to control) but I should have seen faster times in the trap if the car is truly producing more hp.

Yea, more power = more traction problems. Maybe it's time for some new tires or a tune up?

I only have 2,000 miles on the tires, and the plugs are new... yeah, maybe I need a computer tune, but shouldn't these bolt-ons yield some gains with a stock tune?

My 94 went 14.6 @ 97 with a 2.2 60' bone stock.

With longtubes, cutout and same ****ty tires I went 14.0 @ 102 with a 2.3 60'. ------BUT the weather conditions were drastically better

I bet with those same mods you wouldn't run those times here in AZ . Some tracks are "faster" than others, plus elevation differences.

Many people claim the the SLP dual cat shorties dont make much power. I think most people go Long tubes or convert over to a single cat system so they can run Mid length headers.
I hope you figure it out cause that sux.

The wheel spin is what slowed ya down-- look at your 60'.
Get some sticky tires and a dyno tune.

Apparently you live at Altus, so what track were you at? And, I guess these times were recent? The last decent track day we've had around here in Oklahoma was Nov 13 at Thunder valley (test & tune). The conditions were great that day and I had some of my best times of the year.

Re: Lost .3 in 1/4 after SLP shorties, GMMG cat-back, cold air intake, etc.

its funny people dont take into consideration altitude and da,along with track conditions.my set up is similar to yours but i have c5 18s out back and i ran 13.9@99 w/2.11 60' warm weather 80+ degree.launching at 3000 i had a little bit of clutch slippage.i know the headers helped me and i did not notice very much with the cats gone, bone stock the car ran 14.4 on the stock wheels and tires...

Re: Lost .3 in 1/4 after SLP shorties, GMMG cat-back, cold air intake, etc.

I've been running my times off the G-Tech Comp Pro. for the purposes of comparing "before and after" the mods. The temp today was in the mid 50s... with cloud cover.

I asked the original question to see if anyone else has experienced losses after similiar mods and if someone could vector me towards the best way to troubleshoot... or I should just accept the fact the cooler weather is going to cause a very crappy launch with no traction and not only hurt 60' times, but 1/4 and trap as well. As I said before... I can buy the crappy 60'... but the low trap speeds seem suspect.

Everyone's welcome to weigh in... would appreciate your wisdom/thoughts/ideas.
