Loose steering?

My car is in storage, but I took it for a ride the other day and my steering felt kind of "too easy". My other Z was different from what I can remember.

I replaced pretty much all the suspension on this car including new balljoints (one tie rod does seem to need replacement though, the other is new) and LS1 brakes. Is there anything I can do to stiffen it a bit?

Could the fact that I have 275 tires on the front have anything to do with it? The car seems to chase a lot on the road too.
Thanks.

Re: Loose steering?

Can I replace them myself or do I need special tools for that? (I know they come out on the brake knuckle side easy, but what about the other side?)

Of course, I will be taking it to a shop for an alignment afterwards.
Thanks.

Re: Loose steering?

You can also get a ragjoint eliminator. I have been meaning to get one for awhile now...

Re: Loose steering?

Tie rod ends are not hard. As already suggested, measure the length of the old ones and make the new ones the same. Then have your alignment checked. I noticed a little improvement in rut tracking when I replaced mine, but the wider the tire, the worse the rut tracking is. Air pressure is a factor in that, too.

Re: Loose steering?

Even if it's not a problem, I'd get the rag join eliminator. It makes a huge difference in the tightness of the steering. Here is the site:http://www.unbalancedengineering.com/Camaro/.

Thanks for the advice!
I'll probably get one of these.

Anyone know where is a good place to get Moog tie rod ends?

Re: Loose steering?

Oh yes, forgot to ask. Do I need to replace the ends only or the whole thing?
