Looking at a Z
Looking at a Z
Black 96 and earlier Z, t-tops, gray cloth, A4, LSD rear, tinted windows 107k miles, all paper work new tires.
The trans was rebuilt by the seller at the dealer under 100 miles ago and has been maintained by Pedigo Chevy for all 107k miles.
The seller goes to my church and is one of the senior techs at Pedigo Chevy (a dealer here in town) and says there is not a thing wrong with the car he just has to many kids and he never gets to drive it. I asked him what gears it has and he said he would have to check the build sheet but he knows its an LSD and he does not know if the opti crap is original or not (I am sure I could find out). He had it for sale for 6k and got an offer for $5,800 but it fell threw, he told me that he would give it to me and me only for 5k because he knows I would take care of it and knows I am a FREAK when it comes to f-bodies.
I am wanting to go and look at it Sunday. Do the LT1 cars have any problem areas that I should know about or anything in particular that I sould look for???
It would also be a daily driver my last car before the cavalier was a 86 camaro (2.8) with a shot suspension so I know I can handle the snow. I wanted to pull some weight out of the front like the A/C and all (I never use it), and put the battery and a SMALL system in the back. Do you guys think that would be worth the time and make a noticable difference in the snow?? I wold also get snow tires.
I also heard of a Black 97SS for sale at a run down used car lot down the street from my University..... my question is why would a car like that be there LOL.
Thanks
David

Yes the opti. That is one thing I am dreading to replace. I picked up my car with 112k miles and I'm just waiting for the opti to crap out on me :knock on wood:. When that time comes to replace it, it'll also be time for a nice heads/cam combo
Damn those optis

So was there an LSD option for the LT1 cars or would it be aftermarket?
If its aftermarket and there are other mods I will put two and two together with the trans going out and look into it deeper. I am going to try and go look at it Sunday and get the VIN and see if I can get someone to run a carfax.
