looking for more hp gains without NOS!

ok guys and gals now that i have a stronger tranny and a strong rear end (for now i hope) i want to try to get some more HP out of the motor. i was thinking about getting a set of bare heads get them cleaned out new valves lt4 springs and lt4 cam. is that a good idea to do? are there any other options for me? all i am trying to do is get as close to 300 hp and at least 12's in the 1/4. i am more a road racer / auto x/ drifting kind of guy. (i don't live 1/4 at a time [ i know shameless fast and the furious plug])..lol let me know what you guys think

you don't have to pull the heads for 12's... just do the lt4 hot cam kit with some 1.6 rr's, headers, a tune, timing chain and some other stuff...

it's hard to tell without knowing anything about your car...

You might consider a CAI too.

Full bolt-ons should get you there, full exhaust, cold air intake, PCM tune, 1.6 roller rockers, and an electric water pump.

e water pump didn't think that would do anything. so your saying roller rockets without changing the springs? man i didn't think it was going to be that easy to get to 300 hp to the floor i have an intake the full metal one no plastic arm. hmm so with a 500 to 600 buck budget i can gain 40 or so hp!

Are you sure that motor is healthy? I have a setup very similar to yours and run pretty consistant bottom 12's on motor. Whats your trap speed?

An electric water pump has been noted to give gains of almost 10hp at the wheels. And no, if you do roller rockers, you should change the springs as well. With your budget, it will be very tough to do all of those mods.

You might even want to consider one of the basic setups from Lloyd: www.eportworks.com He can work your stock heads so they make some nice gains and can set you up with a cam as well.
