looking for info y-pipes

Right now im researching a Pacesetter LT setup. For decibel, peace of mind, and exhaust smell reasons I want to go with a catted Y-pipe. Ive got a couple questions regarding this:

-Ive found a couple posts mentioning a TSP catted y-pipe, but couldnt find any info on it...can anyone help me with that?
-Does the average exhaust shop have cats in stock to make one, or should I purchase my own cats for them to work with?
-How much does a shop typically charge for a custom catted y-pipe? (or just a custom y-pipe if i provide the cats)
-is clearance going to be a significantly bigger issue with cats?
-am I an idiot for not considering an ORY?
-edit: anyone have pics of a catted Y with pacesetters?
-edit: will my subframes be an issue?

any info is much appreciated

Why not go with a pacesetter Y-Pipe and just put the cat at the end of the Y-Pipe? Most shops have cats in stock but they will flow about the same as a stock unit.

I believe the TSP catted y-pipe is for the LS1s. They have a slightly different floorpan which makes it alot easier to run a y-pipe that practically puts the cats. right at the ends of the headers. I had a shop custom weld a pair of small cats. into my Pacesetter ORY pipe. It cost 150.00 in labor and these are the cats I bought.

Clearance is very tight on the drivers side..You have the fuel/brake lines in the way on one side and the torque arm in the way on the other, but it is possible. Others run the cat. at the end of the y-pipe, but the cat. is not nearly as effective back there and clearance can also be an issue depending on the size of the cat. I wouldn't consider yourself an idiot for considering an ORY. If you want to run LTs, you are going to need a special y-pipe of some sort and the options for LT motors just don't seem as great as those for the LS motors.

would a setup like that flow as good as a dual high-flow cat setup? Thanks for the info btw.

thanks alot for the info man, I take it there is room to weld a cat into the pacesetter y-pipe on the drivers side then? how much clearance did you have, or how much clearance did you lose? Do you or anyone else have pics of a setup like this?

edit: also, will having subframe connectors present more of a problem for me?

Yeah, I was able to get one in on the drivers side. It does hit a little sometimes under high load on the torque arm, but it stays clear of the fuel/brake lines. Once I run the crossmember mounted torque arm, it wont be an issue anymore though. As for clearance, the cats. in the link I gave you are very small and tuck up nicely, I haven't dragged anything on the pavement.

The difference would be null unless your pushing some big numbers. I think a high flow cat combined with some 3 inch piping would offer excellent flow and be cheaper then a dual setup.
