Looking to buy 95, valve train noise, need advice

My friend is looking to by a 95Z 6speed with 83,xxx miles on it, the car is in really good shape. Runs good, doesnt smoke or have any problems. The only thing I am wondering about is at idle you can hear some valvetrain clatter, nothing serious just a little. It doesnt get worse when you rev it up. Is this common on LT1's? Anyone think its a big deal? thanks for any help.

Unless he has 1.6 rockers i would not buy it. He over reved the motor and the lifter or lifters have collapsed. Also comes from dirty oil. I would not a buy a camaro that has any motor chatter ever. Rather buy one with bad paint or interor with a good motor.

Are you sure its the valvetrain? These cars have noisey injecters.Even if it is the valvetrain,it could just need an adjustment.

With that many miles and if the valve train had not been touched, there could easily be a few rockers that need adjustment. If it runs smooth, there is little chance of it being a collapsed lifter (not all that common). The injectors do make some noise, as previously said. While you are looking, get under it and check for oil leaks, too.
