Longtubes installed now I have some ?'s

I just got done putting on a set of pacesetter longtubes. They fit great and look awesome. The y-pipe fit a little tight but we got it on there. Anyway I wen tout and drove the car and it feels like its lost all its bottom end torque. It idle fine no misses all the way to 6 grand or anything. Is this typical of longtubes? Any ideas?

Longtubes generally raise the torque peak several hundred RPM's, away from the stock peak of 2400 RPM's. This is the reason you feel less low end torque. However, its not much of a loss...once you get used to it you wont even notice. And the addition of top end HP more than makes up for it.

actually it's not in ur head. when you change to headers or better flowing aftermarket exhaust, without putting more air into the engine, you give up some low end torque and gain more high end horsepower.

Ehhhh....It shouldn't feel weak down low that's for sure. You should gain tq everywhere w/ LTs, not just up top. If it feels weak down low, then something isn't right. Is your exhaust hooked up? Or are you running straight headers? If your exhaust isn't hooked up, then I'd hook it up then feel the power. Open headers will feel slow that's for sure. Another thing, check your plug wires make sure they are on the right cylinders. That's a common mistake.

Yeah I knew that longtubes would give some low end up but this is way more. The car doesnt even feel any faster. I definatly think there is an ignition problem going on here. The car definatly doesnt sound right. Ill listen to it when its idleing and while I hear no miss it just doesnt sound like the regular thump thump thump that it used to have. I cant really describe how it sounds different it just does. Also when its in drive and stoped the tach is flucuating very slighty, like its bouning around. This problem is even more pronounced when I bring the RPM's up to around 1500. Eventhough Im not moving my foot the rpm's are bouncing around ever so slightly. The tach needle probably moves about 1 or 2 hash marks on the tach when doing this. Also when putting the car in gear it used to very firmly come into gear. Not like banging but firmly. Not when I shift into drive its like theres no power behind it. Sorry If I rambled on here I just wanted to cover everything I observed. If anyone has Datamaster I have a file saved of driving the car around, I can email it to you. Which reminds me of another thing. In datamaster the RPM line on the graph is usually smooth an pretty straight. Now it is very jagged. Also the car is not throwing any codes. Thanks for your help guys.

you definitely have the plug wires hooked up wrong. Recheck those.

Look for wires arcing or burnt wires.

It's easiest to look for arcing wires in the dark.

I just did a complete plug wire change. I checked, double checked and rechecked to make sure everything was where it should be. After I did that I turned the lights off in the garage looking for arching. Still acts the same way it did before. Its just not making the power it was before. It used to chirp the tires into second now its not even close. It hardle even spins them off the line. I am a loss here and disapointed that after all this work the car is screwed up. Anyone have any other ideas?

Did you check your air intake elbow? Did you happen to take it off during the LT install? You might be getting unmetered air into the car. Check the elbow between the MAF sensor and the throttle body for tears leaks.

Also check to make sure that your EGR system is hooked up tight and not leaking.

That's all I can think of right now without going out and replacing parts.
