longtubes with cat

I haven't been on here in quite some time. My car has been sitting for almost the last 3 years or so since i moved away for work so maybe you guys can give me a bit of advice.

In order to get my car back on the road I am going to need to put in a cat converter with my longtube set up just to make it pass visual inspection.
There is no emission testing or anything just a visual to see if there is a cat installed.

So I am wondering what is the easiest way to go about this. Are there cheap small cats i can get that will fit in with minimal effort? Would I need 2 behind the headers or could i just use one behind the ypipe?

I dont want to lose a bunch of performance or if possible I could get something made up so that i could swap in the cat for inspection and back off after inspection.

thanks for any advice or any links to small cheap converters that i could make work.

If you have a normal set up, buy one cat and gut it first and weld it in place. If they don't do the sniffer test, how would they know? Same as here in Southern Virginia. Should be able to find a cheap one in a JY.

Here's the one I used, I welded a 3 bolt flange on one end and ball flange on the other, I can pull it and replace it with a pipe I welded the same flanges to in just a few minutes.

I got mine on e-bay for $60

yea i think thats what im leaning towards doing is having a converter and then making up a straight pipe so that i can swap between them after the ypipe.
I was just wondering about the placement. I doubt they really care where the converter is placed since its not that strict around here but after the ypipe would be quite far back on the car.

Why?

If you could put an empty cat in there, essentially a pipe for all intent and purpose, why would you want to crawl on your back to switch back and forth?

If they don't do a smog test, they won't know anyway. It's also much smarter than having the pipe in there and getting stopped by the police.

Think before you do it.
