longtube headers on a 97 camaro
Can you run hooker super comp long tube headers on a 1997 camaro ss? What parts do you need it to work? From what i know all i need is the headers y pipe and o2 simulator. how hard is it to install or should i pay to get it done? Does anyone have an idea of how much it costs?

Do a search, theres allready your answers on this site and you will get them much quicker. It is a job you can do your self, but you do need a safe way of getting the car up high enough. I did headers myself and it took me 2 days and i had a lift, it would be a PITA to do this in your driveway with the car on stands or blocks. You should expect to pay at least 400+ for a shop to do it, but you should ask around since i dont know the labor rates where youre from.
Re: longtube headers on a 97 camaro
I have those exact same headers on my 97 trans am. They are infact a PIA but it can be done. We did it in about a day in my garage with no lift. I think they both went in from the top but its been 3 years. But all you need is the headers, gaskets, header bolts, ( i would try to find 3/8 head bolts there easier to get a wrench on but that may be just me.) and o2 extensions on just make them but i have seen people **** them up before.
Re: longtube headers on a 97 camaro
I did this not to long ago. I went RACE only headers, meaning no emissions hookups, removed my emissions equipment and put 2.5" pipes to dumps before my axl. Heres the story, you will need new wires due to routing in stock position will be a huge PITA with headers. you should put new plugs just cause you have everything off, you'll need to move some wires that go down the side of the passenger fender. I also did a 160 thermo stat and put spark plug heatshields on for extra insurance, cause one set of shields is cheaper then X amount of wires. All in all expect to pay more then you think and if some one is doing it for you bring your check book.
Hope this helps, if you have any questions let me know
