Ok so what do you longtube boys do about emissions?? Do you take off your headers and through the exhaust manifolds back on with the cat? also where do you get ypipes for hooker long tubes, and what else do you have to change when throwing on longtubes?
thanks in advance

I like it how your thing says you registered in December 1969

long tubes are ok for emissions IMHO

ps. you need to extend your o2 wire for your 93, which is easy since its single wire o2 but you'll have problems if its not summer cuz you don't have heated o2's, heck even heated o2's have problems with cooling down

i have a buddy who inspects my car so i dont have to worry about the cats. i also had a shop make me a custom y pipe it is three inch pipe but sits real low to the ground. if you install the header you will have to block of the egr and all of air pump stuff.

You'll need to install bungs in the collectors for your oxygen sensors. I'm using single wire unheated sensors without a problem. (Some brands of LT already have bungs in the collectors - Hookers dont) You'll also need to weld another set of bugs in your LT's for the smog lines. Either in the collects or in a couple of the primary tubes - I've seen them setup either way. Course you'll need to extend the smog hoses to reach the header collectors if you choose that root. Either way, you'll probably need to cut back some of the hard pipe on the pass side and replace it with hose.

Here's a pic of mine (try to ignore the mess).

For the back side, I chose to go with dual exhaust and dual cats, instead of a y-pipe and single exhuast.

Here's the drivers side before install:

Must work OK - I passed harris county dyno emissions testing 'bout 3 months ago.

y-pipe - Dunno. There are some prefabbed ones that are available from a few shops, but I dont know of any that are setup for a cat. Not saying it isnt being done, or that it's not possible, I just havent seen anyone running LTs, ypipe and cat.
I image a y-pipe with cat for LT's would be a totally custom job. Find a good welder/fitter if thats what you want.

Bungs - Summit, Jegs, or Martel Bros. Im sure there are many other sources.

Cut and splice - very simple job to extend the O2 sensor wiring yourself.

Personally, if your not planning on going to larger than a 3" single exhaust, I think LTs are a waste. Might as well go with shorties that are already emissions legal and usually come with a y-pipe. I know there are people who claim to see increases with LT's over, shorties alone. But in every instance I've came across, they've either went with a larger primary tube header (from 1-5/8 to 1-3/4) or changed the rest of the exhaust. As in, deleted the cat and/or went with a larger diameter exhuast.

go to the texas forum and post about this. or email me. there are plenty of places in DFW that are good with long tubes and exhaust.

Is this setup just headers > cats > cutout >side exit exhaust w/ no muffler.

Why the cutouts if you dont have any mufflers and have the cutouts after the cats, kinda defeats the purpose of a cutout, IMO. Why not put the cutout before the cat?

I'm running car chemistry insert mufflers just after the cutouts. (check the sig)

As far as putting the cutouts before the cats - It would have been very difficult to do so and keep the pass side cat in the stock location with the long tubes, unless I wanted to hack the collector. But mostly it just wasnt neccessary - 2ea 3" inch highflow cats definetly dont do anything to restrict the flow or reduce the noise.
