Long Tubes with GMMG cats or none?

What would long tubes with no cats and GMMG sound like on an lt1???? looking for an exhaust set up and i think the guys at speed have me convinced on long tubes they say i get 20 rwhp from them so with a cat back i should net 25 or so what you guys think? Also any suggestion on putting cats on my 1994 z or no what would the difference be for sound and performance with or without them? Looking in getting into 13.5 range @105 or so and dyno 300 rwhp so that is what i want out of it. i was looking at slp header but i think iam going to change my mind. thanks

It'll be louder without the cats in. Also you'll pick up a few horsepower from leaving the cats out. It should sound pretty good, a few people have that setup and like it, it's just a bit loud.

It sounds awesome But I might be a little bias I am running Hooker LTs, Mufflex Y (no cats), and GMMG chambered exhaust. I love this setup. Its loud, but not annoying. And the GMMG exhaust note is simply unbelievable! Best sounding exhaust for F-Bodies hands down IMO. Now to your question, with cats or without. Well I personally think this setup sounds better with cats (I've heard it on my dad's 435 HP Berger SS with LTS, cats, and GMMG). Its not a huge difference but its a little more refined. This brings up the hassel of adding cats to LTs. Is a slightly better sounding exhaust note, and I mean slightly, worth the hassel and money for cats? For me the answer was no. Adding cats to Hooker LTs wouldn't be worth the money and effort needed. And the price of FLPs makes them not worth it IMO also. So I ditched the cats for a slightly less pleasing exhaust note but since I'm prolly the only one who will notice its alright . You can't go wrong with GMMG and LTs, with or without cats. Either way it sounds bad a** .

cats are inherently evil. I have LTs and a custom made y-pipe without cats. Sounds great, performs even better. Go for it. Dont worry about emissions yet (if you have em) I am gonna throw a cat on before going, then put a straight pipe back in. Waste of taxdollars those places are.

Well said ShelbyZ28. I'd mostly agree with that except that on LS1's, they sound MUCH better with cats through the GMMG exhaust to me personally(too raspy/unrefined without them). I already have the GMMG on my car and I have yet to hear a better sounding cat-back on an LS1. I can't wait to add some LT headers and highflow cats.

SLP 2OTL is the best sounding cat-back I've heard for the LT1's but I've never heard the GMMG on this motor.

If you don't mind spending that much $$$, by all means go for it.
