Long tubes and EWP Dyno #'s

The last time I had my car on the dyno, before yesterday, was July 2001. At that time the only mods were a K&N and a flow master exhaust system. It had 260RWHP and 290 max torque. After installing 3.73 gears, hooker long tubes w/o cats and an electric water pump my car laid down a disappointing 283RWHP and 303 max torque. This seems really low to me. I was expecting close to 300RWHP. Were my expectations unrealistic? The car definately feels faster and runs great but the numbers don't seem to tell the same story. BTW I bought the car new in 97 and it barely has 30K miles on the engine.

Was that pull with the tune from PCMFORLESS?

Oh yea, where did you get your stock rims widened. I would like to do this. How much was it?

The latest pull was done yesterday and it was with a PCMFORLESS tune. I had the wheels done by Vaughn Machine in Monrovia California. You can find them in the yellow pages.

Yes, you were expecting a little too much IMO.

I would have said 300 rwhp with a M6.

With a flowmaster muffler you wont see the max gains from the headers, its a major choke point.

Re: Long tubes and EWP Dyno #'s

i wouldnt worry about it too much, after i installed the LT's i dynoed 279hp/289tq through the original muffler. after i went back a few weeks later with a cutout, i only made 267hp/284tq with the cutout open . havent gone back since and i would say my times in sig. are the only thing that matter. either way dont get too worked up about the #'s, and just take that thing to the track.

There is no reason you should have lost 13 HP from a cutout....

I'm not too caught up in the numbers and I do plan on taking it to the track but I'm confused as to why the long tubes and ewp only gained me 23RWHP and 13 Ft lbs of torque.

Re: Long tubes and EWP Dyno #'s

blind-

i narrowed the loss of horspower to the fact that previous #'s were on 16" rims, and the current ones were on 18x10.5's. that and the two #'s were at different times and weather was around 105*+ inside the shop. but even if it wasnt i really dont care about it cuz im pretty happy with my times

NVRLATE-

if you changed anything like wheels or tire width it might be the cause of the low #'s. plus different weather conditions can also play a role. best thing to do is try to keep everything constant before and after. remember all cars are different and react differently to mods, take it to the track and if it traps between 101-105 you should be fine. after i did stall and LT's i ran 13.5@98, then went back again and ran 13.3@101. now i did some little odds and ends which helped out my current times. i know it still has a 12.99 in her but i need to fine tune it. either way good luck
