Long Tubes

Just out of curiosity, will long tubes pass the sniffer?? I am thinking about these as a future mod, but not if they can't pass.

No longtubes are legal because they move the stock location of the cat. If your state, like mine, just looks under the car for the prescence of a cat, then your cam and tune will determine if you pass or not as long as your AIR and EGR are hooked up

edit; actually the AIR won't be operating during an emission test

As stated above, some people have passed the sniffer with FLP long tube headers. They have all the emissions hookups and cats (although they aren't in the stock location which is illegal), but they still don't have a CARB # and aren't truley legal.

Yep, LTs will pass the sniffer with cats installed. I passed the dyno emissions test, with Hooker long tubes, cats, CC305, and so-so tuning.

All brand LTs will work. Some will require more modification though, like the installation of bungs and y-pipe fabbing (if you choose to go that route). Technically, sure they may not be legal since the cat placement has changed, but you can still pass both visual and sniffer testing in most any state with them though - maybe not in Cali with the carb #'s and all...

My complete dual setup ran me a total of $600. I bought a used set of jet hot coated hookers with bungs installed for $300.00 Added highflow cats, mufflers, and piping. A freind did the welding.
