Long tube trouble
Long tube trouble
I installed long tubes last week I ran open headers for a couple days my ses light came on right after the header install, i did not hook up the egr tube to the header, i notice when i get on it in like 3rd or 4th it kinda pops a lil dont seem like a miss but iono,
well tonight i did the egr mod blocked the egr flange on the passenger header, took off the egr valve made a block off plate and put it on then went to the egr vacuum line took it off and it was broke in Half!!..... so I cut the hose and crimped it and sealed it with jb weld ... next i plugged up the air fittings on top of the headers, I did not remove the air pump yet finished up for the night started it up drove for a few mins here comes the ses light
.What do you think my problem is Bad 02s? there original
BTW one was coated with white before i reinstalled them, do u think the open headers messed them up? Will the air pump set off ses light? before the headers there was no ses light so I'm narrowing it down to O2s or possible burnt plug wire... anyone with similar experience?

Q2: Yes it will set the ses light off.
BTW, why don't you go to Autozone and get the code scanned

NONONO...guys, he has a 94, OBD1 ...it should no set off ANY ses lights because of the !EGR or !AIR ...my guess is the cold air on the o2's with open headers set off the ses, reset the computer and see if that changed anything (Bottom left 10A fuse in fusebox...pull it out for about 10 sec.)
BTW, i have long tubes installed with stock programming and i dont have air, nor egr...works without ses

autozone
O god , well is there any obd1 scanners that will detect misfire?
it doesnt feel like a miss i think it would be through the whole powerband , will faulty O2's make you lose horsepower? i mean it feels like i t will accelerate hard then taper off, then hard again

yea faulty O2's will cause bad A/F ratio but then youd have to assume that BOTH O2's were bad....cause it it was only one he'd have the faulty O2 pegged so hed be running VERY rich....causing noticible stumbling between 2000-3000rpm's...
I wouldnt think BOTH o2's had gone bad at the same time,...

O2 sensors
Is there anyway to test the O2 sensors? can i jus unplug them and see what happens? I called me local Gm dealership and that gave me a price of like 75.00 a peice for O2 sensor!! thats crazy
does anyone else no of where I can get some new O2 sensors cheaper? fast?
