Can people send me some or post up some pics of jet-hot long tubes installed or pacesetters. I want to see the difference in them.
Few questions

1. Do they hit the steering at all
2. Do they touch the heater box
3. On a NON lowered car how much clearance is there
4. Anyone have a y pipe bolt rite up if so what kind
5. Anyone have suggestions on the slip fit tube situation
6. Any specific dislikes about them
7. What little mods were needed such as cutting this or bending that to make them fit.
8. Do they hit the floor boards

Any questions you can answer is awsome.
I really would like to see pictures so make this thread the ultimate long tube picture thread so everyone can see what they look like installed.

-no, very VERY close thoug

-enough to go over a speed bump, thats about it

-just slip it in...some people use grease, i didnt

-yeah, i got oil burnt on my ceramic finish... ...seriously, i love them
7. What little mods were needed such as cutting this or bending
that to make them fit.
-just an o2 extender on the driver side, and taylor over valve cover wires...everything else worked fine

-no, but after exhaust is connected, it may or may not hit the trans x member

Hooker Y-pipe takes SERIOUS modification to work, get a custom Y made and save yourself the time and agrivation

 

^^^ I second that.... get the y-pipe custom made. When they made the Hooker y-pipe fit up tight for ground clearance, it was too close. My hooker y-pipe hits the torque arm.

 

Hmmm. Mine didnt. It fit well with the hooker lt's.
Now mine did bang against the crossmember until I placed a rubber between them. All is fine now.

I just installed my Jet Hots 2 weeks ago, and they're awsome. I have a 1994 Trans Am and:

1. Do they hit the steering at all: No, it's close, but no problems

2. Do they touch the heater box: No, it's also close, but i put some heat resistant tape in between to be safe. It's about an inch away anyway.

3. On a NON lowered car how much clearance is there: I only lost about 2 inches, but lost a bit more with a custom y pipe. I still have about 4 inches from the y pipe to the ground.

4. Anyone have a y pipe bolt rite up if so what kind: I bought some 3 in collectors from summit for $10 and had the muffler shop weld the y pipe to them, that way I can still unbolt the pipe off at the collector connecting to the flanges.

5. Anyone have suggestions on the slip fit tube situation: No idea

6. Any specific dislikes about them: None, i love them. A bitch to put on, but worth the weekend.

7. What little mods were needed such as cutting this or bending that to make them fit: I had no problems with anything, just re routing the plug wires over the valve covers and getting o2 extensions.

8. Do they hit the floor boards: Not mine.

Here are some pics of the ground clearance that my headers and custom y-pipe have. I have Jet-Hot long tubes, and a custom y-pipe and exhaust fabbed by a local exhaust shop. The y-pipe is 2.5" to 3" and the car is not lowered...still stock height.

The biggest complaint would have to be that the passenger side header hits the K-member. I installed a poly motor mount to help that though and its OK now. It does not rub or touch anything else though. To get the slip fit to go together we sanded a little on the coating.

 

My Pace Setter long tubes hit the steering a little. We had to make some minor adjustments to get them to clear and bend the AC line like everyone knows already.
