Long Cold Winter without Headers

Just wanted to say hello to everyone as I have been on hiatus for the past few

months. Between this cold winter making any work on my 95 Z impossible( I

wish I had a garage as where I live it's always cold till March-April). Looking

forward to thawing out the 95 and installing headers. My disgust with the

factory exhaust manifolds knows no bounds. Hence my question which I know

may have been put here before as a long tube vs Mid vs shorty. However my

real question is about the exhaust that goes with it. There is a Magnaflow

exhaust installed and if I buy the midlength I can use the Magnaflow and I

thought I read midlength arent much worse than long tube? I can get long

tube but what to use for an exhaust if I do. I used to know an exhaust shop

that did great work but they are far away and in my area I'm not sure

anyone is good at it. And paying 1000 for a cat back to me is too

much.(The shop I mentioned did great work for under 300 maybe it's worth

the drive eh?) Well if anyone can throw ideas or solutions they have used

and what they think about midlength headers it would be appreciated.

I should say I forgot to put gas additives in till early January still after sitting idle for 2 months the lt1 fired right up

that I'll take as a good sign.

Re: Long Cold Winter without Headers

There's nothing wrong with running mid-length headers. Your only giving up a few hp compared to longtubes. If you already have a cat back that will work with the mids, then that's the way I would go.
