Locktite vs. Antiseize, and timing cover q's...

The heads should be back from CMotorsports later this week... which means I'll be going home to put the engine back together right after spring break

I just need to know a couple last-minute things... what engine bolts need locktite vs. anti-seize? Also, as far as the timing cover goes, can anyone explain what the deal is with tearing the gaskets? I know when I pulled mine off there's that one U-shaped one over the rim of the oil pan, and it started coming loose.

Thanks!

the oil pan gasket is one peice and typically tears at the the corner of the front. Many people will say just use RTV and seal it up but mine was still leaking. It is pretty easy to just put a new oil pan gaslet on and aleave any concerns whatsoever. Also, don't put the timing cover on with the water pump seal in place. Put the cover on first, then put the seal in place. The best way to do this is get the shaft that connects the water pump gear to the water pump itself. Sand one edge of this shaft down with sandpaper. Next, slide new seal over sanded side of shaft; it should be a tight fit but helps to line the seal up and holds it in place. It is also the same diameter as the gear that it slides on. Now, slide the shaft with new seal onto water pump gear sticking out of timing cover. Using a deep socket (I used a 5/8") placed aover shaft, tap new seal into place by tapping on end of deep socket with a hammer. The new seal will slide into place with no problems and without fear of ripping or leaking. Good luck and enjoy the new heads,

Kyle

Need to use thread SEALER on head bolts and intake bolts,
Thread LOCKER on cam gear and cam retaining plate,
ANITSEIZE on spark plugs and 02 sensors.

I can't think of any of the others that need anything.

Yep, thread sealant. I like to use blue thread locker on some items, just dont touch the freakin red stuff! I know it has its application some where, but that stuff really, will lock things down, blue works good enough IMO.
