Locktight or antiseize for header bolts..

Ive seen both used. Which is the right one?

I have never used anything. I would not use anti-seize cuz when you go to pull them you may snap it off inside the head

I think you mean threadlock

For the reason above I would NOT use threadlock on header bolts! I don't use anti-sieze either because the bolts already have a habit of backing out. I think I used a dab of oil on mine, that was it. Never had a problem.

A little drop of oil on each one is all you need. Definatly no loctite or anything of the sort

The heads are aluminum on a Z28 or TransAM while the bolts are usually steel or iron I believe. They expand and contract at different rates so using antiseize will prevent them from getting stuck.

I have always used anti-seize and stage 8's, never had any problems.

I have never used anything. Just some cheap Mr. Gasket header bolts and tighten them down. Never come loose, never get stuck in the head.

I've known people to use blue and even red loctite without a problem. Header bolts aren't THAT weak that you are just gonna snap them with ease because of a little loctite.

On factory bolts, the first three threads are clean and then a 1/4" band of thread adhesive is used. No anti-seize is used.
