Lock-tight...Question

Well i should be getting my 383 back from the machine shop fri. or monday...after spending too much $$ on this rebuild i want to make sure nothing goes wrong or comes loose...when building the motor should i use the blue lock tight on main bolts, rod bolts, timming...etc? bad idea or good? I figured if i went with the Blue lock tight it would just add some insurance....red would be to much of a b!tch if i or someone else ever took the motor back apart.

whats your thoughts?...

Thanks for all the help!

Re: Lock-tight...Question

Don't think thread locker is recommended on rod/main bolts-just lubricant.

Re: Lock-tight...Question

For the rod and main bolts, I'd use whatever the manufacturer of the bolts/studs recommends. For the head bolts, ARP generally recommends their own brand of lube or thread sealer. For studs, just use a little oil. For the timing gears, cover, etc... a dab of red lock tight will be fine.
