Location of Oil holes on the cam bearings
Just wondering if there should be in a certain spots. I noticed my stock shortblock has them around 2 and 5 oclock, while the new shortblock has them at 6 and 9.
Thanks

#1 bearing - 1 and 5 o'clock
#2-#4 - 5 o'clock
#5 - 12 o'clock
per the factory manual. That's the way my factory installed ones were.
The popular rebuild book for the LT1 says 2-3 o'clock to create an oil "wedge" during camshaft rotation. They also say it is "not critical" as long as you don't line it up with the feed hole.

As shoebox said you can put them in a position that creates a better oil wedge. With the block upside standing in front of the block, you would put the bearings at about 11 o'clock for #2-5 bearings and the very front one you would do 11 & 2 o'clock
