You read that right...12.1 @ 118.1 at Tri-State Dragway in the heat with a slipping clutch. Here's a link to the thread on one of the local boards...

http://nkyfba.homeip.net/nkyfba/showthread.php?t=3986

They say this car is bolt-on only...stock bottom end, stock heads, and stock cam with 130K miles on the odometer. I don't know what else has been done to it as far as gears, transmission, etc. For bolt-ons only though, that's pretty damn impressive...what do you guys think?

Something is not right. No Bolt-on LT1 car has ever trapped a mph that high. Also at least 2 runs are needed to back up a claim.

Perhaps it was stripped down several 100 lbs?

118 traps for a bolt-on? Unheard of.

Must be stripped down to sheet metal, fiberglass, frame and engine, and a drivers seat.

Perhaps i can shed some insight.

This car is a 6 speed, last i head he was running the stock 3.42s.

Car is full weight plus subs in the back.

My personal opinion is da blue bottle, but what do i know. I have one of the fastest MPH cammed cars that i have seen, but still little shy of their bolt MPHs.

There's clearly more to the story.

Before I even clicked on that I had to say to that MPH at least. That ET and a little better is possible with some suspension work and weight reduction but no way a bolt on only LT1 is hitting 118mph. I was running that ET and hitting 115 which is pretty good from what I see and thats with bolt ons along with the hotcam kit and good programming.

Just read the thread, the guy admits the timer was most likely messed up.

And if you keep reading he takes back that claim. From what i heard they were running right around there all night long.

BTW..greg-
You are getting CLOSE to me. Dang. More tuning out of that litle cam? Looking good.

Exactly...I figured the same thing when I first read the thread, but they say later that the timers were working fine and they ran four 12.1-12.2 passes back to back. And Jared was right...I've seen the car and it has a full interior plus they claim it to be full weight themselves.

oK, I just read to the end of the thread this time, I see he is still claiming the time is correct but then they locked the thread? i loved the 2F2F pic How many people have even hit 110 with boltons??? My best with many boltons was 108 in damn good weather at that. Anyway, I'm still calling to that MPH.

atljar, I havnt touched the motor since last year and I havnt had a chance to run the car lately since installing the 9" rear. Those times were with the 4.10s in my old 10 bolt from the spring. I'm still getting some things straightened out with the new rear before I run it. I really need a new clutch too, looking at getting a SPEC IV. I think my SLP clutch may have had it, its not releasing too good these days. I know I will be leaving a lot harder on it the next time out after getting a new clutch

This is what I mean by internet racers. I can't even break past 103 with a cam, albeit I have stock rockers, full weight, no electric wp, shorties, etc... and these guys are running 118 with just bolt-ons?? Ok, come up to dragway 42 and run that, can't be more than a few hours North from where they are currently running.

He could be doping the fuel with some nitro methane?
