So awhile ago we loaned the computer from our perfectly functioned car (not my idea), to a friend whos care was not perfectly functioning (it was an el camino retrofit). After getting it back, and it running for a short time it now does not run right, and the optispark code is coming up. Is it a possiblity is car or something he did messed up our comp. or is it simply the optispark?

 

Sounds like an opti problem to me, not PCM.

 

Was the code present right when you installed the PCM?

If the car is running bad and the code was not present at first, then it is most likely a legit code.
