little miss at part throttle

I did a search and couldn't find the exact same pattern.
When at WOT, the car feels great. At very light throttle, it feels great to. But if I go slowly and press the throttle more and more slowly, the car feel like it is a little bumpy.
The car has new plugs. My water pump died 3 months ago and obviously leaked on the opti. But it ran fine after.
I just put the headers a month ago and the other day one bolt came lose so I went under to tighten it. But when I was doing it I guess I touch something that made a little spark close to the O2 and then that's when I think that I felt it a tiny bit more but not sure.
A last thing is that the other day I nearly run out of gas and took a sharp curve and felt like the car had no power (no gas, no power). I may have clogged the fuel filter (I will change it tomorrow).
Btw I put the LT4 knock module and it didn't help, oh and linked it to a scanner (autotap) which found nothing wrong.

Waht are you thoughts (sorry a little long)?

Thanks,

Jacques

Make Sure the headers are sealed up well. Exhaust leaks could result in the O2s reporting unreliable data to the PCM.

Make sure the plugs are snug.

A bad EGR valve could exhibit that behavior, although it would seem your 96 would throw a code.

Either a bad or dirty MAF sensor, or leaks after the MAF (vacuum leaks) could result in poor driveability.

I hope these suggestions help in finding your problem. Good Luck....

I would say O2's would be the problem. If you said it sparked by the O2 sensor, maybe it shorted something out. My 96 Z was doing that part throttle hesitation crap. It was noticeable at first, but then it got worse and threw on the SES light. Got it scanned at AutoZone for free, and they said it was the right bank, #2 O2 sensor. Haven't replaced it yet. at $75, that is a little pricey. So I'm saving for simulators, so I can gut the cats.

Don't do it, the thing will sound like a rice burner with a tin can stuck in the exhaust. If you don't think so, buy a pair of ragged out cats at a junk yard and gut them. That way you have the good ones to put back on when you don't like the sound they make. Just a suggestion.

That is about the same promblem I got after a opti install. Its a hair bit bumpy sometime and sometime the idle is off, shoebox said let it idle somemore takes a bit for the PCM to relearn, and I need to repleace this small vacuum line. Also I drop and got a spark the other day off down there by the 02 I thought it hit the starter or something though. Ran fan afterwards. I might need some new 02's though.
