little confused right now...

I went to adjust my rockers a few minutes ago, like i've done a few times this month. When I took the valve cover off and started her up, I probably had half a quart of oil just start spraying from the rockers on the #1 cylinder. Now, the other times that I adjusted these, I had a little oil dribble out, which I know is normal. But the oil was actually spraying past the fender of the car, whats up with this? is it normal? I was only able to get a few adjusted because I was losing so much oil.

Not sure, was the car warmed up the first time therefore at like 20 PSI oil pressure and not the second time?

Was your car warmed up? Before I adjusted mine, I always warm up the car to the point where at idle it's reading 20+psi. If your car was cold, your oil pressure would be around 45+ at startup--perhaps that's what's causing your spray .

I got a better question. Why are messing with the valves so much? Even solids don't need to be messed with that much.

Re: little confused right now...

My oil pressure is at 60psi on cold startup, and 40psi when its warm, it had only been running for about 5min. when I took the valve cover off, so maybe I should let it warm up a little longer. And for some reason, the rockers just keep coming loose, I think maybe i'm not tightning down the center lock-nut hard enough.

If they are coming loose than they are not being positively locked. If you are just tightening the "center lock-nut" then they will loosen up. Use an allen wrench to snug it up real tight but then take a wrench and turn the whole nut until tight (~1/8 turn) Take the extra turn into account when setting lash.

If you do this, they will not come loose

fwiw, if you're running Comp Cams 'R' lifters they also need to be lashed very loose. I've found best results by finding zero lash, tighten the lock with an allen wrench, and locking it in place with the extra 1/8 turn.
