Lingenfelter Ported LT4 Heads
George Baxter used LPE CNC LT4 heads/intake to the 1,000HP level on his 9-second 30th SS Convert. The shop that built the engine had a catalog of every LT1/LT4 head they ever got their hands on (including Dominion/Araos)... all flowed by the same tech on the same bench. The LPE heads were among the very best (obviously not in the same range as the Dominions). A set they bought 2 years ago for a 25th T/A flowed even better than George's right out of the box... seems they have been improving with age.
Just curious.... do they have the LT4 intake with them? You do need to port the LT4 intake extensively to flow well with well ported LT4 heads. I'm pretty sure they sell the heads and intake as a "set". If you are lacking the intake, think in terms of at least $500 to replace it with a new one, and have it worked to support the head capabilities.

Steve...
The heads, if they are really LPE CNC LT4's are a very good buy at $800. But you will need an LT4 intake to go with them, and the intake will need to be ported, preferably by the same person that did the heads. This is a critical issue with the LT4 heads. I had the opportunity to compare my CNC Cylinder Heads (Pinellas, FL) LT4's to George's LPE's - out of the box my CNC's flowed a little more than the LPE's. Then Second Street went to work on George's LPE's, and they outflowed the out-of-the box CNC's. But, as instructed by "Pete" at CNC, we flowed both sets of heads with the accompanying intake, and the CNC intake showed a 3% increase in flow over the flowing the heads alone, while the LPE's showed little change in flow at all..... I was getting the same flow as the tweeked LPE's.
And just so no one runs out and buys a set of the CNC heads, as good as the intake flow was, the exhaust flow totally sucked.... among the worst I have ever seen, and the ports had been hogged out so much, there wasn't a lot Second Street could do to fix them. Pete at CNC suddenly became very "silent" and avoided discussing that problem with me.
The LPE's are a good deal if "real" and in decent condition. There are variations in flow depending how "old" they are. As time went by, LPE seemed to improve the flow to the point where out-of-the-box heads were flowing better than George's reworked heads.
