Question Limits for Head/Cam Combo

Is there a limit for how far you can go with head/cam combo on stock bottom end.

Heard that:

Too much of a H/C combo + Stock bottom end = expensive rebuild

Any comments on that.

Generally, the most we try to run on a stock bottom end is an honest 420-440rwhp. SAE corrected anyhow

That's turning 6600-7000rpm as well, so like any stock shortblock under those conditions... yours may last, it may not. More often we've seen well maintained shortblocks that weren't subjected to anything outrageous last quite a awhile though .

That said, it's always fun to push it

Good luck!

So, what would go wrong, spin a bearing or loose rod. Is it the added RPM or the aggresive duration and lift that would hurt stock bottom end.

If going for 400RWHP and not revving more than 6500RPM-6800RPM, would the stock bottom last long.
