limited edition 1996 SS
It is Black with M6 and T-tops not sure of the suspension package. The banker told me that it was a Z28/SS. I always thougt that it was either a Z28 or a SS not both but who knows. I know it has a number (12**) not sure of the numer or if all SS's have a number. I like it and SS's are kinda hard to find here but I think 13,000 or over might be a little too much.
13k is good if the car is in good condition. in 96-7 there was no SS according to any part dealer or what not. From the factory it is considered a Z28, with the SS performance package. ALL SS's have a number from SLP, and I would find out what it is from SLP before I bought the car to make sure the ram air hood and box are not aftermarket.
GOTO SLP and look for their phone number. Its a lil hard to find but keep looking. Based on the VIN they can tell you everything they did to the car including if it is a legit SS. If the SS num is less than 350, the car had stuff done to it that was not done to all SS's. IE P&P heads...

First off I would suggest getting the VIN # and do a Carfax. Second, contact Chevrolet and they can verify for you if it's a true SS, along with other specific RPO codes, original sales date, and recall info. If you know someone at a GM dealership they should be able to pull up on linked computer all the background on that car from date of sale to basic maintanence. Contacting SLP, as stated before, and they can verify the SS build number and SLP installed options. This way you can have information to justify a good price. I'm not saying it's a clone, but it is a collectible car, and always a good idea to verify the background. By the way, does this car come with any documents, i.e. sales docs, window sticker, warranty/service history? You could also check www.collectorcartraderonline.com or www.autotrader.com and compare prices for similar condition SS's. For being the first year return on the SS it might not be a bad price, but it never hurts to low-ball a price his way. The worst he'd say is no and at least he'd know you're serious. Good luck!
