Stock lifters are fine, as long as they are still in good condition (have to visually inspect them).

Before you decide "I'm gonna do a Hot Cam" consider all of your choices. Just because it is popular doesn't mean it is a good choice for a lot of people. Many find it is just too small, and end up swapping out later.

As for a shortblock, Combination Motorsports (check the vendor index) seems to have a good rep for doing good work. NuTek is also well known for good motor work as well.

Honestly, visually inspecting them could show some wear and tear on the lifter but I doubt you could tell a collapsed lifter by just looking at it? Eh Mini Me? No? Tuff crowd

I didn't change mine but I wanted to. Funds. If you have high miles on the car then this would be the time to do it.
Also nice choice with the Hot Cam!!! It seems lately people are trying to sway people from running the Hot Cam. I don't understand why. It is YOUR choice. I commend your choice & you will see you will be able to run good with it. Infact I will be running high 11's with mine this year on STOCK HEADS . I'd say that the performance is good.

Good Luck

Stock lifters should be fine but check them out first.

He might also be choosing the warm cam just for a good power increase and still be able to pass emmisions??? But if you don't have testing in your area I would look in to other options. Not saying the hot cam is a bad choice. I just don't want to see another person get it and wish they went bigger HTH

i haven't bought the hotcam kit yet, but that's what i'm leaning towards. I live in chicago, and must pass emmissions, and i would like to enjoy driving my convertible z in the spring/summer months. it's either the hotcam or the cc305 which i have heard good things about.
