Lifters

Will Comp OE replacement lifters work fine with a .569/.577 cam and the CM 612 springs? I'm in a crunch, and no one has the comp "R" lifters in stock. Opinions please.

The Comp R's will not be in for a few weeks. Seems that the lifter factory is up to it's tricks again. Might just want to wait for the lifters before you do the cam install.

Really gotta know the rest of the cam specs to see if you need more spring or less. The combo springs are usually not too heavy a spring pressure so they will work on stock lifters.

My bad cam in the sig....

233/239 .569 .577 112LS

That cam should have some good springs with it since the lobes are a older design and they are pretty agressice ramps.

Wait for the lifters to get back in stock unless you have that puppy all torn down right now.

Going with the combo 612 springs, they're already here. Good for .600/6500 rpm. I'm going with the replacement lifters. Have the install already planned for the 21st, and have a big race the sunday after. I'll just swap to the Rs when I get the heads ported.

Edit: It's the combination motorsports grind. 233xl from comp.

After doing quite a bit of research I've decided to go with the OE replacement lifters. I've heard too many stories about the R's and how one has collapsed after only a few thousand miles (~4-6k)

Plus I got an awesome price on a set of brand new OE replacement lifters...

I have the exact same springs sitting in a box ready to install. I knew about them being good to .600" lift but where did you get the 6500rpm's from? Does Cmotorsports advertise that?

Just curious...

I can't remember exactly where. Could have been CM. At any rate, it's the general consensus.

Choosing springs based on coil bind height ("handles xxx lift") can be a dangerous thing - I'd ask CM what they think about that particular combination if you haven't done so yet.

I'd also wait until you could get ahold of some 875's, it'll be worth it IMO .

Thunderracing has 875s in stock, well atleast they did a few weeks ago. I've never heard anything bad about the Comp R's. But I have heard bad stories about people re-using the stock ones.

No, they didnt have any. They're where I got the 850's from. No way I was reusing my old ones, so the comp replacements will have to do for now.

where are you setting the rev limit and where do you expect to have peak power to occur in the rpm range with that cam?

6500 rev limiter, expecting ~62-6400 peak.

hey man, let me know how those lifters go w/that spring/cam. I have the same setup. CM recommended me the setup. they also recomended the comp R lifters, but I dont have the money right now (maybe I will by the time i get around to finishing it) and my lifters only have 70K mi.s. no real racing and they look/feel perfect.) CM said its a hit or miss thing trying to reuse the stocklifters. Im just worried about valve float below 6500rpm or the lifters collapsing. I firured that its not that big of a deal to remove the intake to replace the lifters if need be. you plannin on a dyno tune? post your times/dyno #s after the race. it'll be 4-5 weeks before I have my eng. back together. cant wait though.
