lifter still ticks after new ones

I had a couple lifters ticking on the drivers side so I pulled the covers and tried adjusting them. Didn't work. The engine is rebuilt with less than 300 miles on it. The guy replaced everything but the lifters so I just bought some new ones. It seems that the same two lifters are still ticking some. Sounds ok at idle but I can really hear it around 1500 rpm. Pushrods are fine also. Oil pressure is good also. I know it's not in the adjustment since it's the same two and adjusting these valves is nothing new for me. I also looked at the cam lobes while the lifters were out and they are fine also. Could it possibly be a couple bad rockers?

Could be or it could be bent pushrods. Take them out and roll them on a piece of glass..if it ticks, it's bent.

Swap

Swap out the two in question pushrods and rocker arms to a different cylinder and see if the noise follows them.

Same thing happened to me (replaced lifters/pushrods but same ones tick). I then used the tightening method where you do an additional 1/16 or so turn on the big nut after the lock nut is tightened. That helped a little. I have noticed it goes completely away after the engine is warmed up so I suspect the oil passages are not wide enough to let adequate oil through.

Are you sure it's a lifter and not an exhaust leak? Are you using the stock rocker arms?

yes it's the rocker or lifter making the noise. I plled all the pushrods and they are all just fine. The rockers are stock. I noticed that the rockers look kinda worn where the ball pivits but I would think that would be normal for a set of rockers that have 200k on them.
