Lifter needle bearings

Have a new set of the Comp R lifters. A can feel a little resistance on a few of the rollers, like the needle bearings are binding a little, even after soaking them in oil.

Anyone else had this problem, or think I should get replacements? Or is this common?

Forgot to mention that I cleaned them in mineral spirits like you're supposed to, so it's more than thick grease resistance.

I need more info.... are some of those empty of oil? is this resistance difference found while they are in the car and pumped with oil?

Do you think they may have bled the oil out and you pushing against the end play of the plunger?

Just a thought.

I meant right after I took them out of a container of oil that they were soaking in (not pumped up). I spin the roller with my finger and can feel what seems like the needle bearings binding a little.

Re: Lifter needle bearings

Ooops Sorry I thought you meant the plunger... My brand new OEMs did the same. I istalled them last week and there was some "rubbing" resistance on some of them. They are in my car now and had them break in for a few days. I already did two WOT blasts with them and they are holding. I was concerned too. No WOT logs yet. My Scanner batteries died just before the first run.. Bad Omen?

In my case they feel fine for now (lifters) . I will see what happens a few thousand miles down to the road.

If there is anyone who have seen this before, Chip in. I am curios too.

Re: Lifter needle bearings

Hmmm... I also had one lifter that didn't want to go into the lifter bore - kind of tight. Tried a different lifter and it goes in fine, so it's not the bore.

Think I need to call Comp on Monday. So much for firing it up this weekend.
