Lifter?
Lifter?
So I install my heads (stock castings with new valves, guides, and springs) with comp 1.6 RRs, and use the stock lifters and pushrods. The first time I fire it up it sounds like crap and overheats as soon as I get it up to temp. I shut it off before it got all the way to 260, but it blew the head gasket anyway. The oil is pure milk. So I take off the valve covers and one of the rockers is off the valve, almost sdieways but still on the pushrod. The rod isnt bent and the valve appears to be ok too, but I havent taken the heads off yet.
Does this sound like a bad lifter? And what would my cause the head gasket to give out so quickly? It was only running long enough to get to temp and past it, and I reved it a couple times to maybe 3k RPM.
