Hey Guys,

I've been chasing a few demons in my new 94 Z28. Last night while I was checking things out, I found a few things that were a bit disconcerting.

Over near the PCM was a plug with nothing plugged into it. Should there be?

And is there something missing on this side? Like my cruise control, perhaps? Mine isn't working...

Now this wire is just kind of hanging out. It goes to somewhere inside the left side of the nose cone?

And I've got a hard plastic vacuum line coming out of the loom near the cltch master.

Ok, one last one. What is supposed to go in this hole in the intake boot? Do the 94's have vented opti's?

So can you guys help me out and let me know what these things are?

TIA!

First photo is fine, some of the harness' had extra plugs for traction control and stuff

Second photo is missing the factory air box.

Third photo sucks

4th and 5th ones look kinda like the sleeve the cruise control wires run thru

Thanks.

Ok here's a different angle of pic 3. The colors are funky (my camera is dying) but the focus is better.

The last pic looks like someone took off a nitrous kit and pluged the hole where the nozzle was.

I'm 99% sure that photo is of the cruise control cable that someone has cut off with a pair of snips.

Looks to me like your cruise control was taken off, an dyou have the cable by the driver side exhaust manifold. I would assume that one or more of the harnesses running to the pcm goes to the CC. Someone who took it out was probably lazy and didn't decide to remove te CC components from the dash.

Also, I don't think that LT1's came with the WS6 package until '96... so your ram air setup is aftermarket. I would guess that it was taken from a car that came stock with functional ram air.... that is why the hole on the rubber intake tube is plugged.. since 95+ came with vented opti's. No biggie.

Im not sure if the 94' had a vented opti, but after you get everything figured out you should really invest in some engine cleaner

Well you could get the Ram Air setup on Firehawks earlier than 95, but he has a Camaro so its obviously been added to the car and is probably off a 95+ car. That explains the screw in the hole on the intake. That wire thats cut looks like the cruise control wire. Anyone that cuts that wire and just leaves it there probably doesn't know how to work on a car. I think i'd be scared of what i find in the rest of the car.

Yeah, you've got that right. I'm finding some pretty scary things on this car. But I got it cheap, so I expected a few issues. I got rid of all the red wire loom that I could without having to use wire cutters. There's a few things hacked underhood and it has some running condition issues. I hope to chase them all down and get it running pretty well in the next coupla weeks. (Just in time to put it away for the winter )

So do the factory cruise control "guts" reside in the bumper cover?

Also, the car has the SLP "Ultra Z" hood with the associated ram air box and the matching rear spoiler. I know it's aftermarket because he didn't even bother to remove the factory air box ducting.

So does anyone know what that vacuum line near the slave is supposed to go to?

And yeah, I plan to clean the engine bay. I just got it like 26 hours ago... Gimme a break! Ha hah...

The cruise control module is located in the plastic removable panel under the front bumper cover, where a CAI filter is usually located. As for the line by the master cylinder i'll look at my car and get back to you.

the pic that you think is a vacuum line close to the master cylinder looks like the windshield washer fluid line. does your windshield washer work properly?
