Left Rear Axel Seal replacement
Well, it basically speaks for itself. I went to get my car inspected, seeing i know the guy he let me drive off with it but strongly urged me to either do it myself, or take it into get it worked on. Anyway, he said that it was with the utmost importance that i replace the Left Rear Axel Seal. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how and what i'd need, or even link me to a sight they know about detailing how to do it.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Re: Left Rear Axel Seal replacement
It's actually pretty easy. Remove the wheel, brake caliper and related components, and the rotor. Then remove the rear end cover. Remove the small long bolt that holds the crosshaft in the differential carrier, and remove the crosshaft. Now carefully turn the driveshaft until you have access to the middle portion of the carrier. Push the axleshaft in and remove the c-clip. You can now remove the axleshaft. You might as well do both sides, and be sure to smear some wheel bearing grease on the lips of the seal befor reinstalling the axle(s). Reverse the process to put it back together and make sure you fill the rearend back up with lube and a bottle or 2 of posi additive. Good luck!
