leaks oil?
Re: leaks oil?
take a big piece of cardboard, or multiple ones, and lay them underneath your car, then let it sit for a while. Come out and check, you should then have a good idea where your leaking from.
Re: leaks oil?
common places: rear intake, front intake, valve covers, oil pan, timing cover, rear main seal (not as common), front main seal (not as common)....are you sure it's motor oil? Could it be power steering? Transmission fluid?
Re: leaks oil?
What do I do if the oil is leaking fromt he timing chain cover, or front and rear of the intake? I have a small leak as well that is pissing me off! My leaks are more towards the front of the car, and the ealer said that they couldn't figure it out..

Re: leaks oil?
an intake leak, you have to take the intake off, put on new gaskets and a 1/4 bead of sensor safe black silicon on front and back of block. Then put the intake back on and torque the bolts. Timing cover is a bitch. You have to take everything off the front of the engine and drop the oil pan down (probably go ahead and replace that gasket too) and put on new gaskets. Go ahead and replace the waterpump seal (in the timing cover), the opti seal, and crank seal since everything is already off. Also replace the waterpump gaskets before putting it back on.
Re: leaks oil?
don't worry about it...just think of it as a constant oil change.
haha, jk. I'm just upset because I have tried a few things inluding the rear main and it still leaks. Im thinking that it is probably the intake so imma give that a try real soon.

Re: leaks oil?
The dealer was going to charge me 75 dollars because they wanted to put an additive in the oil then put a black light up to it to see where it came from...I dont' trust them so I said no.
They said they replaced my transmission mount, they didn't, they didn't fix my electrical problem, and they said I need a new transmission...*I have a hole in my TRANSFER CASE!* I'm not dealing with them again.

I would have to come back after 600 miles so they could give a better look at it. If I could, I would put that luquid in myself
Re: leaks oil?
I don't know what the liquid is called, and how much it is...
The thing is, I didn't do it because the dealer messed up so many other stuff, I wasn't going to pay 75 bucks for them to tell me this and this needs to be replaced when it really doesn't.

Re: leaks oil?
i agree 100%.....i don't take anything i own to an mechanic because of that reason. I have always tried to figure things out myself. I can try to find out what that liquid is called, how much it is and where you can get it. My cousin got some a while back so i'll give him a call right quick
Re: leaks oil?
he said he got it off the MAC tool truck that goes to his shop. It is dye and the whole kit with the light was $40. He said sometimes you can find it at Autozone. Sorry not much help there. He also said after you put it in there you have to check it really often because if you wait too long it will be all over the place.
