leaking...

Ok, not sure i am gonna be able to explain this all too well, but i will try. Ok, so i got the hot cam installed on my car recently, have had leaks galor ever since. Finally got rid of the pesky oil leak, only to find that I have a coolant leak!!! A couple of days ago the coolant light came on, so i topped off the radiator and the reservoir. Coolant light goes off, so i figure im ok...aparently not.

So now i notice a coolant spot in my garage floor, i get under the car and i find the leak almost immediately (this is where i might lose some people with my description of where it is coming from). Just under the intake elbow there is a hose that goes into what i believe to be the water pump (whatever is right below the intake elbow/throttle body connection). It looks like the clamp that is on the tube is not on all the way, so i get it into the groove that is on the tube, drive it around and no leaks. But then i go out later and come back after a longer drive and find that it starts leaking all over again!!!!! I dont know what is causing this leak???

Could it be that i filled the radiator a little too much and it is trying to get rid of some of the excess in the lines because they are too full??? I probably sound pretty stupid, but when it comes to a lot of things with cars, im not the best...general maintenance and doing bolt ons is what im good at....

HELP ME GUYS!!!! I am at my wits end with all these leaks, i am a finatic about things like this....they bug me to no end.

It could be a few things, the T-stat housing could be leaking. There's also a bleeder valve near the t-stat housing that I've can come out(not the bleeder screw, but the actual piece that sits in it). Usually coolant leaks are pretty consistant and don't do what yours is. Hard telling. Also, whenever you add coolant, make sure to open the bleeder valves so no air is in the system.

is it leaking from the same hose you tightened?

did you use a socket and rachet? you can make it tighter with
that instead of a flat head.

check the hose too it could just be worn out and need replacing.

Yeah, the leak is coming from the same hose that i moved the clamp on before. i can see where the leak is exactly. I know it isnt from the t stat housing. It leakst right where the hose slips over the metal tube that it is clamped to. And it isnt a hose clamp on the tube, it is one of those stock clamps that have the two ends that you have to squeeze to open it up.

BTW, where is the bleeder valve that you are talkin about???

oh yeah I remember those pos's. Go to your local autoparts store and get some of the socket kind of clamps they work much better.
