LE2 Track Times (1/8th mile)

Took the car to the track tonight for the first time on drag radials.
Best run consisted of:
8.3x ET
84.x MPH
1.7x 60ft.

Car consistently ran 8.3-8.5 through 10 passes with virtually no track prep. Keep in mind I'm still on the stock suspension and rear end. It was also the hottest day of the year thus far at 93 degrees with 80% humidity at 700 ft above sea level. I was sweating like a ***** in church the entire evening.

Overall, thumbs up to Lloyd Elliot. Car feels really strong and I'm certain better ET's are forthcoming.

Somethings got to be killing your mph. Nice 60' times given the conditions. Stock suspention will carry you to low 1.6 60' times on the 60E and some M/T DR.

What sort of tune do you have? Something just isn't right about that mph.

It's just a mail order tune from PCMforless. No one was running anywhere close to their normal times. I think it was mostly the weather that hurt my times.

Yeah his tunes can be quiet rich sometimes. I usually can get about 2-3 tenths out of tuning at the track myself after one of their tunes by tweeking the shift points and timing tables. I bet a dyno tune and a half decent weather day would net you some way better times. That dyno would help you out the most. I'd use that mail order tune as a safe method to get you to a dyno or have someone that knows what they are doing put a wideband on it at the track and tune it in. Sometimes Bryan's tunes are nuts on but sometimes they are way off on the rich side fouling .O2 sensors and stuff. Had it happen.

G/L though that's a nice set up to run. Just takes time to get all the little things just perfect. Shoot it's been 4 yrs and I'm still tweeking mine and getting better times every time I go out.

It ran incredibly rich with the first tune. I had it leaned out a bit, but it's still a tad on the rich side. I've never tried tuning myself, but may give it a shot in the next few months. I'm hoping it dips into the 7.7-7.9 range with better weather and DA.

Just an update here, the car has progressively been getting faster with every visit to the track. This past weekend with the temperature in the low 80's and decent humidity it went 7.98 at 86.5x mph on a 1.7x 60'. Just to compare a completely stock Nissan GTR ran the exact same times but a few mph faster, and a H/C/Carbed LS1 ran a tenth faster than me. I think it has some 7.7's in it before the end of the season.

Its not so much the car getting faster. It you. You have a lot more time beind the wheel on a track so you will keep improving. Keep at it.

I'm sure there is plenty more to be found in your car. Just for an example, my set-up runs 90 mph in the 1/8 mile on a (decent air) day. I'm thinking a dyno tune might be in order to make sure your getting the most from the LE2. Are you sure the valves are set right? Have you played with the shift points and were do you have them set at now? You mention a 3200 stall (kind of small), but what brand is it? When you say 1.7x 60 ft., could you be more specific? Big diff between low 1.7s and high 1.7s. You could use more gear too if you want some better times.

I agree with the above. You need a custom tune.

A dyno tune is in the plans but the closest place is nearly two hours away and isn't cheap either. I haven't played with the shift points. I've toyed with the idea of buying software and attempting to tweak it myself but haven't got that far yet. The converter is Performabuilt's 9" in house converter, which I've been satisfied with thus far. As for the gears, they are definitely in future plans. I would however, rather buy a 12 bolt than throw money into my 10 bolt. My 60' times are all in the low 1.7's.

Your right, dyno tunes are not cheap, believe me I know. You didn't mention your shift points, but being a LE2 I would imagine somewhere around 6500 would be a good guess as a starting point. My smaller cam peaks at 6k but likes to be shifted at 6400. Down the road you might want to have the converter re-stalled to around 3600-4000. My Yank SS3600 and the 3.73 gears yeild low 1.6x 60ft. times.
