LE2.5 1/8 mile track times on street tires

just thought i would post this for fun.

BTW- I dont recommend ever trying to get any real good track times on street tires!! they are horrible for traction! i just havent gotten my DR's yet.

this is my best time out of a few times running. keep in mind- street tires and i havent driven on a track in about 4 or 5 years. so ill get better with time

60ft- 2.1702
1/8 ET- 8.47
1/8 MPH- 88.34

this was my last run of the night due to the fact that on this run i snapped my edelbrock torque arm (literally just ripped it apart). looks like ill be in the market for a spohn TA (provided itll clear my duals). I would like to add that i can tell that this setup will put up some good numbers. with some DR's and some practice, i can easily take this thing into the 7's. It pulls good and strong once i establish traction. i could only launch at about 2500rpm max if i want to take off at all. i had to baby it through 2nd gear because i was all over the place with it as well. once i hit third, i would usually start gaining on 95% of the ppl i was racing. even guys that were running 7s. all in all, i am still pretty happy with how things turned out (with the exception of the TA). ill post some new numbers up once i get things straightened up a bit.

Man, this is the 3rd of 4th time Ive read about a Edelbrock TA breaking. One will never be going on my car!

Nice times though! Sounds like a strong car!

What elevation are you at? Those numbers are mediocre mph wise. With LE stag 2 heads (2 years old) and an XE230/236 114LSA I made 368rwhp/336rwtq with a mailorder tune in which I had less than a 10.0 A/F!!! I ran 8.2 @ 90mph with 2.07 60'. Dr's will probably help, but I suspect with your tune, you are only in the 350rwhp area unless your elevation is affecting your mph.

I ran mine last night for the 1st time with the cam(847) and had about the same night, best was 8.1 @87.60, this was right after the rain stooped.

Go BMR on the torque-arm. The spohn one will bend at 1.65 60 ft. times at the bracket where it attaches onto the rear.

yeah, i would definitely like to get it retuned. it could be part driver as well . i need to get some datalogs to send to Ion so that he can straighten my tune out a bit. all that i have at the moment is the starter tune that he sent me. still a decent tune though. just needs a little more fine tuning now. as far as elevation goes, i live a few miles from the beach, so i doubt that that is the problem.

you referring to the trak pak? i like that setup as well. i just have to choose carefully, i would like to keep my duals with whatever setup i go with without loosing too much more ground clearance. thanks for the info though.

Re: LE2.5 1/8 mile track times on street tires

you guys need to work on your 60ft times My 4100# impala ran 8.188@ just 82.66mph with the stock heads and stock B-body cam. The sixty foot was a 1.709 which is where you guys should be getting with all that power.

Invest in some racing tires. Racing on street tires is worthless! At the very least get some drag radials. I had BFG DRs on during that pass

I have DR's and tried every pressure from 16 down to 8. Nobody was hooking last night.

I'll bet your 60's were getting worse and worse the more air you were letting out. I have found that I get the best traction at 22 lbs with the BFG radial. It's a whole different ball game than the bias wrinkle wall slick.

I believe the spohn torque arm by itself is the one that bends. The track pack is the one with the built in loop right? I just wouldn't go there. BMR stuff is really pretty good.

Traction looks fine to me, thats a good 60' for street tires at the tracks I run at. Your mph looks way down though. I would expect 92-94 out it unless your up in the mountains or have an impala.

Re: LE2.5 1/8 mile track times on street tires

Now i cant wait to try out my new LE2 heads (355ci, LTs, XE230/236 112lsa)... If i can hit 92mph in the 1/8th that'd be sweet..

I havent had any trouble with my Edelbrock.. It "looks" like a decent piece. Far better than the stocker for sure. I cracked my stock one..

I tried this tonite and hooked a little better, 1.85's @22psi leaving at 1500 with a 3k stall.
